Rosa has developed a fascination for seeds. The nomadic artist has been collecting organic seeds and beads everywhere she goes. Making them into jewellery as well as planting them, leaving behind a trail of life. Seeds are important they are the beginning of food and life for everyone.

“Earthworks” will be showing at Jaaga starting on the 2^nd of March with a performance at 8pm. Her jewellery will stay on view on the 3^rd and 4^th of March between 10am to 9 pm

Pleister opening Noordelijk Halfrond

Op donderdag 10 juni wordt Noordelijk Halfrond geopend met mijn project; Een Pleister voor Amsterdam (zie eerdere blogpost). Om 17.00 zal er een performance plaatsvinden waarbij de pleister wordt neergelegd. Deze legging vindt plaats op het IJ-plein in Amsterdam Noord. Als afsluiting van het ritueel zal er troost en verbinding worden geboden met behulp van hapjes en drankjes. De pleister zal het hele weekend, gedurende de atelierroute Boven ‘t IJ, nog blijven liggen. Toeschouwers zullen worden gevraagd te participeren in het project: om mee te doen aan het ritueel, of om een medisch dossier in te vullen.

Settling is harder when you are forced to leave, when you know you can not stay, or for how long. I am looking for stories in our daily lives and how we make meaning by linking different experiences. Every square meter has an endless history, people who were there before us who left their marks there; built or destroyed a home, gave birth or died there. These marks were removed or covered by others trying to make this space theirs and thus hiding, for them, the meaningless history that no one remembers.

I witnessed Rosa’s café becoming part of history, the place where Rosa and her family had lived and worked for 61 years because some people in the Birmingham council decided it would be a nice space for a park.
